Happy New Year! | 2022

2021 went by so fast! I don’t really care because it kinda sucked. It started out with just one crisis after another, and the two-year drought in the midwest is starting to get to me. If we don’t get rain in 2022 I’m going to lose my mind. Anyone else in the area going through the same thing?

It wasn’t all bad though. I made lots of great friends, both in my life and online which is strange to think about.

My blog really took off this year after I decided to take blogging more seriously. I finished my sci-fi/alien contact novel, and I wrote a screenplay! (Co-wrote a screenplay for school but same thing).

I also got a puppy this year. I’m not a dog person, so this was a shock. We’re best buds! When she’s not chewing on my laptop charger that is. She is a mini Aussie named Sadie.

New Year’s resolutions:

Read a book every weekend. If you read a lot of my monthly wrap-ups then you already know that I am not a very… consistent reader. I read 7 books this year…

It’s not that I haven’t read anything at all this year… It’s just that I only finished seven of the countless books I’ve started. But recently I’ve had a realization about myself. All of those books that I read this year I “Binge read.” I took a free weekend to read a book cover to cover.

I’m too busy during the week to read so why don’t I just read on the weekends? Some books might take a four-day weekend but I’m willing.

Focus on my studies. I’m graduating in 2023!!! I can not wrap my mind around it. I really want to buckle down and focus on my school work. This means that some hobbies are going to have to be put on the back burner.

Write three new books. I know this one is a long shot. But I was thinking I could work on one book this spring, one in the summer, and one in the fall. I’d also like to query one of those books in the fall (fingers crossed).

Develop healthier habits. This is usually everyone’s goal when the new year rolls around. But I really want to eat healthier (and by that, I mean cut down on the amount of soda I drink), I want to work out at least a couple times a week, and I want to develop a healthy sleep schedule. I want to wake up early every morning to pray and read my bible. And I also want to keep my room clean and organized.

Go on adventures. In the spirit of my blog title, I want to make new memories. Step out of my comfort zone and try new things.

Learn to drive. Yes, I am still working on this. I’ve talked about this in the past, but I decided to put off learning to drive because I didn’t feel like I was ready. I still don’t but you have to start somewhere.

Save money. If I’m going to learn to drive, I’m going to need a car. Every time I save up a sum of money I end up blowing it. I would like to be wiser with how I spend my money and save my money.

Plans for the Blog

As some of you know I am starting a podcast! I will be releasing more information on that later.

I also want to let everyone know that my posting schedule is changing. I am only going to post once a week, every Monday, instead of twice a week like I used to do. As a result, I will be able to produce better content for you guys without sacrificing anything in my own life.

Happy New Year! What are some of your new year’s resolutions?

Thanks a bunch!
