July 2021 Wrap up

What! July is over already? I feel like we just did this. This month was really busy. From fourth of July parties to parades (of which, I was in two), being sick for a week, and hanging out with friends.

Let’s take a look at a few of the things that went on this past month!

Reading

I’m reading two books right now and I’m not done with either of them. I just struggle to find the time to read. I’ve been thinking about doing the seven books in seven days challenge but I want to do it before school starts.

Watching

  • Wonder Woman 1984: I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to see this movie so she brought it over and we made cookies and watched it together. It was the greatest superhero movie I’ve seen in a long time. The themes were amazing! I can’t remember the last time I watched a superhero movie with themes that moved me so much! It was the perfect example of villains of circumstance, which I was planning on talking about this month.
  • Sweet Tooth: If you have not seen Netflix’s Sweet Tooth you are missing out. This show is amazing! It’s intense, scary, mysterious, and omg, the ending! I don’t want to wait a year for the next season!
  • The Dark Crystal — Age of Resistance: I forgot how great this show was. I didn’t finish it when it first arrived on Netflix. I’m a big Jim Henson fan and I can say they did the original justice. The ending was a little disappointing. I wish they made another season.

Writing

I have made HUGE progress! after finally finished the third chapter in my second draft. I looked over my outline and decided to go back into my first draft and write few of the scenes I just added. I finished chapter fourteen, which was a chapter that was beginning to dive me nuts thinking I’d never finish it. I’m now back to working on draft two and I’m now on chapter five.

I was sick earlier in the month, and very busy so I ended up taking a week off (which is something that I never do). I had a really hard time getting back into writing but I’m very pleased with the progress I’ve made!

Songs on repeat

  • Dead Man — Jars of Clay

Favorite lyric: “Woke up from a dream about an empty funeral, but it was better than the party full of people I don’t really know.”

I have been searching for this song for years! I couldn’t remember what it was called. I gave up on finding it a long time ago, and what do you know, I end up finding it on accident!

The Blog

I claimed my domain, so you are now reading the new and improved The Adventures of a Nerd.com! If you enjoy this blog or know someone who would, please share it with them! I’m trying some new things to get my name out there including taking a good look at the content I’m producing. If you have any ideas for posts just leave them in the comments, thank you.

My most popular post was — Book in progress: part five — A little bit about my book & dealing with doubt

You might have missed this one — Vinyl Record tag

Coming up this month we’ll be talking more about writing negative character arcs, and I have a really fun playlist I’ve been super excited to share with you.

Current Obsessions

Annotating books for fun! I’ll be talking about this more later this month.

Does this officially make me crazy?

I got one of those laptop table stands and it has completely changed my writing game! I don’t know how I was able to write without it! (I’m using it right now, as I write this post)

Also, I got a puppy! She’s a Mini Australian Sheperd. My cat hates her, but I think she’s cute!

I can’t wait for another month full of fun content!

Thanks a bunch!
