Star Wars Theories: Rey’s parents.

Ok, I know this topic has been covered so many times, and I doubt anyone still cares but I have been getting really frustrated with all these theories everyone has that really don’t make sense. So I am going to break down each of the most popular theories. I won’t go into to much detail, my goal is just to point out the weak spots.

Each theory is rated on a scale of 1 to 10.

1 being the least likely and 10 being the most.

  • Han Solo

When I ask people why they think Han is Rey’s dad the answer is usually “because they really had a connection in The Force Awakens.”

While it is true they had a connection in The Force Awakens, that does not mean they are biologically related. Why? The biggest reason is Rey’s age.

Ben Solo was 21 when he turned to the dark side, and that was when Han left to return to smuggling.

Rey was 19 in The Force Awakens and Kylo was around 29. That’s a ten-year difference. So Rey would have to be younger than 10 in order for this theory to work.

And Han is loyal, he wouldn’t betray Leia.

I’m giving this theory a 1.

  • Luke Skywalker

Another common theory is Luke Skywalker.

Luke and Rey also had a bit of a connection. The only difference is Han was more of a father figure and Luke was more of a mentor(think Dumbledore). I think if Luke was Rey’s father there would be more hints here and there.

Luke knew who Rey was, but I believe it was more of he knew she was the one who would carry on the Jedi legacy.

I’m giving this theory a 2.

  • Kenobi

My favorite and one of the most popular theory so far would be Rey being the granddaughter of Obi-wan Kenobi.

In the Force awakens Rey hears Obi-wan’s voice when she picks up Luke’s lightsaber. Now I know that might not be the most convincing thing but don’t worry, I’ve got more.

They also both have British accents. Is it possible this is more than a coincidence? I mean, after all, there are lots of British Star Wars actors who used American accents.

But putting all the technical talk aside, how could this have happened? Aren’t Jedi forbidden to marry and have a family?

By the end of the revenge of the Sith, Yoda realized the Jedi needed to change.

It’s 100% possible Obi-wan had a family while he watched over Luke on Tatooine. And his kid moved to Jakku(which makes sense because it is also a desert planet), had and kid(Rey) and then left for any number of reasons!

I’m giving this theory a 9.

Now it may not be the answer we want to hear but it’s the only theory that has been really confirmed.

Rey herself said it! And I am perfectly happy with her parents being filthy junk traitors.

I’m giving this theory a 9.

  • Qi’ra

This is definitely one of my least favorites. But I do find it interesting and completely possible.

I doubt both Qi’ra and Han are Rey’s parents. Rey is 10 years younger than Ben and there is also about a 10-year difference between Solo and A New Hope. I won’t try to explain this anymore, for the fear of losing your interest. But basically, too much time passed.

It is possible Qi’ra is Rey’s mother, but being the Qi’ra hater that I am, I like to believe she died not too long after the events of Solo.

I’m giving this theory a 7.

  • Palpatine.

Image result for palpatine star warsThere is a theory going around about Palpatine creating Rey, much like Anakin Skywalker. This makes sense since Palpatine’s laugh (and likely himself) was in the teaser trailer.

And the force has saved other characters from dying like Darth Maul, Anakin Skywalker, and Kylo Ren. So, is it possible Palpatine was strong enough in the Forced to be saved too?

This theory gets an 8.

I am aware these are not the most convincing theories. But I wasn’t aiming to convince you. All I wanted to do was point out the flaws and strengths in the theories I’ve been seeing a lot lately.
