I read a lot last year(even though I only remember a handful of those books), And all of them were great books but there were some that were better than others. After mulling over this for a few days, I was able to pick out my top 3 favorites…
Book no.1: The Graveyard Book.
Author: Neil Gaiman.
Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors. Throughout the book, we follow the life of young Bod(Nobody) Owens who is adopted and raised by ghosts in a graveyard after his family was cruelly murdered. This book was certainly a page-turner and left me smiling and kept me up all night reading. Warning! There are some violent scenes in this book but I definitely recommend it.
Book no.2: Anne of Green Gables.
Author: L.M. Montgomery.
I had to read this for school, and honestly, I was absolutely dreading it! but as I got into it, I recognized part of myself in Anne. I mean like if I had to pick a character that was most like me, it would be Anne.
In this book 11-year-old, Anne Shirley is accidentally adopted by middle-age siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. The book is all about Anne’s growing up. This book also left me smiling and wishing for more. Warning! I spilled tears over this book and it takes a lot to move me to tears. But this is definitely a book I would read again.
Book no.3: The Hobbit.
Author: J.R.R. Tolkien.
I have tried to read this book every year since I was ten and I have finally finished it. This book has always been one of my most favorites. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who fancies his comfortable unambitious life. But his life is turned upside down when a wizard and a company of dwarves lead him off on a most uncomfortable adventure to raid the treasure hoard of the terrible dragon Smaug. This book is funny as well as wonderfully written. Warning! This book is nothing like the movie(the book is way better).
